Why Is the Democratic National Committee "Embattled"?

Why Is the Democratic National Committee

Tom Perez, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has asked all committee staffers to resign by April 15 in an apparent party overhaul after Republicans won the House, Senate and White House in the 2016 election.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez and Deputy Chairman Keith Ellison are coming to Asbury Park Friday for a rally along with the Monmouth County Democrats. The report says DNC Chairman Tom Perez has launched an overhaul of the party's organization, following a hard year that included the abrupt resignation of former Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

The Democratic National Committee's newly-installed chair, Tom Perez, has asked for the resignations of all the organization's staffers-a reorganizations Sen. The move is also expected to allow Perez to make structural changes at the DNC that many party members consider overdue.

Perez's spokeswoman told the network that the process was started before Perez was elected, adding that he sought to ready the DNC for future elections.

She replaced former Chair Rep. "I was the Democratic Party chairman in California - it's a miserable job". Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Florida), the DNC was accused of favoring former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over her opponent in the primaries, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont), based on allegedly hacked or leaked DNC communications as well as Wikileaks publishing thousands of email exchanges from Clinton's campaign manager John Podesta.

"We've lost 900 legislative seats in the last 8 or 9 years".

The view that the Democrats' problem is that they haven't moved far enough to the Left is not widely held among objective observers, but it apparently seems plausible to NBC.

Another source with deep knowledge of the committee's operations confirmed that every employee had to turn them in. However, the mass resignation letters will give Perez a chance to completely remake the DNC's headquarters from scratch.

Ellison's political director has also been helping to oversee staffing decisions in some key departments in the DNC, according to several sources.
