Apple: Pac Crest Worried About Potential iPhone ID Sensor Failure

The iPhone 8 is probably still half a year away, yet speculations about the device are already trickling in a steady stream.

Apart from the display, the device will also feature a 2.5D display and a virtual fingerprint sensor.

Yet Apple will not allow this brief digression in its set plans from delaying the release of its smartphone later on this year.

In the case that Apple does, in fact, eliminate Touch ID from the OLED-based iPhone 8, Hargreaves argues that the rumored 3D sensing functionality that's expected to be coming to this device could serve as a "viable and innovative replacement for the highly popular fingerprint sensor".

However, if Apple does aim for an all-screen solution, it beats the question: What happens to the Touch ID fingerprint sensor that now sits within a soon-to-be-gone Home button? Early reports of the smartphone suggested that the device will come equipped with an edge-to-edge front display.

Afghanistan: Death toll from MOAB attack revised to 92
The U.S. has concentrated heavily on combatting them while also supporting Afghan forces battling the Taliban. Agricultural terrasses are visible in the footage, but no population centers.

The earpiece appears as a small slit in the display area, but other sensors, like those for the camera, are nowhere to be found in the renders - which still keeps a mystery how Apple will work them into the design. The Pacific Crest report follows other reports that say Apple is having problems producing its next handset, raising the possibility that it could miss its usual mid-September release window.

Apart from its massive display with holes, embedded fingerprint sensor and vertical dual-cameras, the leaked iPhone 8 schematics also suggest that the upcoming smartphone would not be featuring a curved display similar to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. If Apple can't make the sensor technology play nice with OLED displays, Pacific Crest wrote after talks with suppliers, the company could wind up delaying production or scuttling fingerprint sensing on the iPhone.

It is, however, going with its own technology for a fingerprint recognition solution - Authentec algorithm combined with Privaris glass identification technology.

Reports last week said that Google wants to invest nearly $1 billion in LG Display's OLED manufacturing plants to secure OLED displays for the Pixel 2 series, although the two parties did not sign an agreement. He also believes that Apple has evaluated and passed on Synaptic's solution. We saw the jet black with the iPhone 7 and a RED Product.

'This is yet to happen for iPhone 8'. One 6th-generation substrate can translate into 300 OLED panels for 5.5-inch displays for smartphones.
