McConnell reaches out to Romney about possible Senate bid

Romney has said that he would only consider the bid if and when he has the blessing of Sen.

The 2012 GOP nominee, according to six sources familiar with the talks, has been actively discussing running for Senate in Utah, as Republican leaders and donors in the state have been quietly trying to convince 83-year-old incumbent, Sen. Orrin Hatch - the Republican elected who now holds the seat for which Romney would be running.

Romney is still as awful as ever ... In December, he was a leading contender for Secretary of State in President Donald Trump's cabinet.

"I don't know if he's doing that, but more power to him", Hatch said when asked to respond to a report from The Atlantic that Romney was exploring a Senate run and had spoken to McConnell about it. Romney has made his distaste for Trump very clear, which would make him the flawless senator for Utah, which as a state has collectively made its feelings well known about Trump. Obviously I'm an Orrin Hatch supporter, ' McConnell told reporters in the Capitol Friday. Orrin has to decide what he wants to do.

Hatch made headlines last week when he told National Journal said that he would consider retirement if "a really outstanding person" were to run - someone like Romney would be "perfect".

Comedian Louis C.K. calls Trump a 'lying sack of s
But the people who voted for him, like a member of Colbert's audience, he sees them as "victims of the lying". They like it. "Don't you just want God to show up and say, "I was just kidding"?" he then asked .

McConnell made it clear that he would support Hatch if he wants to run again. "I can see why he might not want to do it, but I can also see why if he did it, it would be a great thing for America".

"I don't think that's going to be a problem", he said.

He added that "all of this has kind of thrown everyone".

Despite Senator Hatch still deciding if he'll run for an eighth term rumors about Romney are flying. But if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need.
