Jorge Sampaoli: Argentina reach agreement with Sevilla to appoint boss

Jorge Sampaoli seems set to swap Sevilla for Argentina

Sampaoli has said that he wants to coach his country's national team after leading Sevilla to a fourth-place finish in Spain.

Sampoli is leaving the Spanish club a year before his contract expires.

"All parties are satisfied with the agreement".

Senior delegates from the Argentine FA travelled to Spain on Thursday to speak with Sevilla president Pepe Castro and the two parties have now reached an agreement in principle which will see Sampaoli leave his contract a year early to take charge of his national side.

This principle of agreement is pending of the drafting and presentation of the pertinent documents.

Right now Argentina is fifth with 22 points behind Brasil (33), Colombia (24), Uruguay (23) and Chile (23).

Sampaoli revealed last week that Argentina wanted to appoint him.

Sampaoli leaves Sevilla having guided them to the top four but, for much of the season, this was a campaign that promised more.

Trump plays up Middle East peace hopes after talks with Abbas
Trump claimed that his meetings with both Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pointed to efforts toward peace. Police identified the assailant as a man in his mid-forties from the nearby city of Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank.

The former Chile coach was offered the job last August shortly after taking the helm of Sevilla but chose to remain in charge of the club.

The Andalusian club are desperate to keep hold of their manager, despite a season that promised so much ultimately coming off the rails after the Champions League last 16 exit against Leicester.

After the 2-0 defeat to Bolivia, Edgardo Bauza was sacked just after serving 8 months with Argentina.

The AFA recently named a squad of players competing overseas for next month's global friendlies but are keen to tie Sampaoli as soon as possible.

Argentina's next outing is a friendly against Brazil on June 9.

Argentina are now fifth in the 10-team South America zone World Cup qualifying standings with four games remaining.
