Police officer shot in face at motel in MA

Police vehicles stationed at motel where officer was shot

A wounded Braintree police officer who is a Marine Corps veteran is expected to undergo surgery Saturday to remove a bullet from his head after he was shot at a motel in the city Friday night, according to police.

Delaney was shot in the head, but is expected to survive.

Four armed officers approached Room 113 to serve a warrant on 25-year-old Tizaya Robinson, who had been staying at the motel since Thursday.

While approaching the room, police say Robinson fired into the closed door and a bullet struck Officer Donald Delaney in the head.

He said the suspect had at least one apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sutton was a player I really liked, an intelligent ballhawk who would have gone much higher if not for a broken foot last season. As a result, the redshirt junior was named a second-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-Big Ten honoree.

Several hours later, still unable to get inside, officers sent a robotic camera into the room and found Robinson dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

Delaney has been with the Braintree Police Department since 2010 and has been awarded two life-saving awards.

Robinson remained barricaded inside the motel until nearly 2 a.m. when police heard shots ring out.

"He found himself in a hard situation and responded well", Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan said.

As the district attorney investigates, Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan says the motel where the incident took place has been a long-time issue. "That's where are thoughts and prayers are and in the next coming days we will be addressing the issues with Motel 6", Sullivan said.
