Afghan soldier attacks foreign soldiers, wounding 4

Seven US military service members were wounded Saturday (June 17) in an insider attack at Camp Shaheen in northern Afghanistan, the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission said.

Al Jazeera's Rob McBride, reporting from Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, said North Atlantic Treaty Organisation soldiers were training their Afghan counterparts at the base where the attack took place.

It comes as Washington is expected to announce an increase in the USA military deployment in the country to bolster Afghan forces who are struggling to contain the Taliban's nationwide offensive.

The Taliban used this tactic to penetrate security at the Afghan National Army's 209th Shaheen Corps Headquarters in Mazar-i-Sharif in Balkh province in April.

The incident took place in the restive Achin district of the eastern Nangarhar province, where the USA and the Afghan forces are engaged in an intensive operation against the IS militants.

Objections to the winning bids will be heard in the DE bankruptcy court system prior to a final sale approval hearing on Thursday. That deal came on the condition that Marsh would wait five years before reopening pharmacies in stores that used to have them.

The Taliban also claimed responsibility for an attack on a Afghan military base that left well over 100 troops dead. But he did not claim Taliban responsibility. A fourth US solider was wounded in that attack. Earlier this year in March a similar insider attack wounded three USA soldiers at an Afghan military complex in Helmand province.

Insider attacks have been occurring with deadly regularity since 2011. The soldiers were assisting operations against the Islamic State in the restive eastern province of Afghanistan. A spokeswoman for the German forces at the joint missions command in Potsdam said "according to what we know right now, no Germans were affected".

For the second weekend in a row, United States soldiers serving in Afghanistan have come under fire from the a member of the local troops they are there to help.

The attacks come as U.S. President Donald Trump prepares to bolster Washington's presence in Afghanistan to stem the violence and the Taliban's military advances, particularly in rural areas of the country, and largely in the south and the east. The others held out against Afghan special forces that had responded to the attack, he said.

At least four foreign soldiers were wounded Saturday after an Afghan soldier opened fire on them, Afghan officials said.
