Cops: Texas Mom Left Kids in Hot Car to Teach 'Lesson'

Cynthia Marie Randolph 25

The two young children - a 2-year-old girl and a 16-month-old boy - were found dead in Parker County, Texas on May 26.

Cynthia Marie Randolph, 24, was being held Saturday on 2 counts of triggering severe physical injury to a child. The incident happened in late May.

The statement added that Randolph had since told officers that she went inside the home, smoked marijuana and fell asleep for several hours before waking to find the toddlers in the vehicle and unresponsive. The mother responded by shutting the door to teach her "a lesson", assuming "she could get herself and her brother out of the vehicle when ready".

Later that day, after Randolph smoked cannabis and slept for two or three hours, she called the police after she discovered her children in the auto.

Temperatures reached the mid-90s that day.

Blackhawks get Saad back in trade with Blue Jackets
Saad, 24, spent his first four seasons with the Blackhawks, helping the team win two Stanley Cups . Dauphin, 22, has appeared in 32 National Hockey League games over the last two seasons.

She was booked into the Parker County Jail. Before calling police, she reportedly smashed the car's window in order to make it look like an accident. Authorities say that the suspect admitted to locking the toddlers inside her vehicle on objective to teach them a lesson. The website noheatstroke.org says humans enter heat stroke - a potentially fatal condition - at 104 degrees.

According to the PCSO investigators, Randolph was quick to say that her children could not have been locked inside her 2010 Honda Crosstour for more than an hour before she came to the rescue and called medics to the scene on that hot May afternoon. After searching the home, the mother found them playing in the auto.

The children were pronounced dead at around 16:30, which was four hours after they had been left in the vehicle. A bond had not been set and it wasn't immediately clear whether she retained an attorney, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reported.

According to the Parker County Sheriffs Office, Randolph said she was inside her residence folding laundry and watching television, as the children played in an enclosed back porch, visible from the living room.
