Gov. Scott, Legislative Leaders Announce Special Session Next Week

The new deal also has lawmakers allocating $210 million more to schools, so that the state will now spend $100 per student.

The press conference comes days after legislative leaders sent the governor Florida's budget.

Corcoran led opposition to Scotts proposal, likening incentive programs to “corporate welfare.”.

The new program will be called the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund and will be run through the state's Department of Economic Opportunity. The money will not be paid out as incentives to individual companies. "The focus will be 'How do we get more jobs in the state, '" said Scott.

The Republican governor had been threatening to veto the entire state budget after lawmakers slashed money to Visit Florida and provided only a small amount of money for the state's economic development agency. The budget approved by the Legislature only includes $25 million. These are all issues he plans to address with the Legislature during the special session June 7th through the 9th.

That bargain includes about $300 million in line item vetoes in the state budget, with that money - along with some from a state trust fund - being moved into Scott's priorities.

Gov. Scott has used the word veto more this year than ever before.

In announcing the deal, Scott and Corcoran finally ended their intense war of words over incentives. "The most important thing I can say about all of this is Florida families are going to be in a good position", Scott said. Scott argues that incentives are critical for job creation in the state.

I have to find myself again and try to forget the clay season as soon as possible, and reset for the grass season again. Entering the match, Kerber had never won against a top 20 player at the event, with seven losses in seven matches.

Corcoran, who pushed for slashing the tourism and business incentive money, appeared to be on board in a statement released by the governor's office.

The building was named after a victim of a notorious Panhandle reform school as part of a bill Scott signed on Friday.

The compromise also allows both Scott and Corcoran to save face and boast of having served constituents as each term-limited politician heads into what's expected to be his next race: Scott for the U.S. Senate, Corcoran for governor.

Democrats who opposed the education bill quickly lambasted Scott and Republicans. Sen.

Miami-Dade's cost of living is so high that public school teachers struggle to afford to live here. Many educators are urging the governor to veto the measure, HB 7069.

Ongoing negotiations may be in play that could increase the $16 million that lawmakers agreed to provide to Enterprise Florida for daily operations.

The measures allocate $300 million of $400 million received by the state previous year to Bay, Escambia, Franklin, Gulf, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla and Walton counties through the non-profit organization Triumph Gulf Coast.

The catch, though, is that all three must also convince Florida lawmakers in a special session next week to vote to maintain the organization's funding level.
