McIlroy hits back after accused of being 'bored' by Elkington

Rickie Fowler

McIlroy missed the cut at the 2017 U.S. Open but plans to play next week in the Travelers Championship.

Friday night, hours after McIlroy fired a second-round 71 that wasn't good enough to keep him playing through the weekend, Elkington took to Twitter to say McIlroy must be bored with golf because of the absence of Tiger Woods, even predicting the Northern Irishman has won his last major.

Elkington was watching the U.S. Open before he made a backhanded compliment about McIlroy.

But Elkington wasn't done, despite being shown the door by the No. 2 ranked golfer in the world.

"More like 200mil...not bad for a "bored" 28 year old...plenty more where that came from", McIlroy wrote. Jack won 18 and never mentioned his total cash.

Wife: Man who shot congressman wanted to work on tax policy
And she wouldn't go into anything about his politics but did add this detail that he sold everything he owned from his businesses. Later that afternoon, it was reported that the sole shooter involved was 66-year-old Belleville, Illinois, resident James T.

McIlroy picked up birdies at four of the last six holes in round two to complete a seven-shot improvement on his dismal opening 78.

"That's why jack designed 100's of golf courses. and it's knew. mustn't have taught grammar in the 50's".

The US Open was only his seventh appearance of the year, following two lay-offs caused by a rib injury plus a few weeks away from golf to celebrate his wedding to American beauty Erica Stoll.

"But I'm not going to force it". I know I'm doing the right thing.

So when Steve Elkington, a 54-year-old one-time major victor (1995 PGA Championship) out of Australia who never finished better than T21 at the U.S. Open, made a decision to call out McIlroy on Twitter, he was quick to respond.
