More Severe Weather Possible in Iowa Thursday

Foggy start, more storm chances ahead

The big weather story is the storms in the forecast today and tonight then again Sunday night through the 4th of July. Not too surprising, given the high levels of instability and moderate wind shear that will be moving in. Heavy precipitation from this morning has eaten some of the atmosphere's energy and the air mass may not be able to recover quickly for tonight's round of storms.

Storms will start up in early afternoon today in Western and Central New York, and late afternoon in the eastern part of the state. Tornadoes are less of a risk today than Wednesday, according to the weather service.

"These storms can produce winds with gusts to 80 mph, baseball-sized hail and isolated tornadoes during the afternoon and evening hours", warned McGinnis.

We'll be keeping a close eye on it, and continue to have updates on our 40/29 Newscasts in the evenings and mornings.

All of mid-Missouri has been decreased to a slight threat for severe weather.

This action freezes the entire bank out of the USA financial system. "If we find other activity, we will sanction other entities". Treasury's move will prevent the bank from having accounts or doing business with U.S. financial institutions.

The evening storms carry the potential for strong wind gusts and some hail, said Corey Mead, another Valley-based meteorologist.

"Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon through evening", said the outlook issued by the National Weather Service Binghamton office.

"As storms continue to push eastward and expand into northern Oklahoma and northwestern IL through the evening and overnight, wind will be the dominant hazard", said McGinnis. These storms will move east and out of central Iowa after midnight with drier conditions expected for Friday and the weekend.

We will have a break Saturday afternoon and scattered storms will form Sunday.
