Saudis Say They Seized 3 Iranians Planning 'Terrorist Act' at Sea

Is Trump's foreign policy more 'Let's Make a Deal' or 'Press Your Luck'

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps in turn has accused Saudi Arabia of involvement in June 7 attacks in Tehran, when gunmen and suicide bombers attacked the parliament complex and the shrine of revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The seized boat contained a stash of "weapons for subversive purpose" and had three men onboard.

The news, reported on the Saudi national news agency, said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia "stressed its determination to combat and eradicate terrorism and its sources, as a part of the country's permanent objective to protect its national security against any external aggression". "It was captured with the three men on board, the other two escaped", a statement from the ministry's center for worldwide communications said.

The statement, however, did not say who was behind the attack.

"This Saudi move is not compatible with human principles and even assuming that the boats had crossed Saudi borders due to sea waves, they were not authorized to shoot at the Iranian boats", Tasnim news agency quoted Iran's Interior Ministry's Director General for Border Affairs Majid Aqa Babaei as saying.

Two of the boats got away, it said.

GOP baseball shooter had list of names, including Rep. Brooks
Scalise, the No 3 US House Republican, arrived at the hospital via helicopter in shock, with intense internal bleeding, Sava said. Bailey was spotted on Friday in the Capitol, on crutches and out of uniform, accepting congratulations from fellow officers.

Aghababaie said "even if the boats had entered Saudi waters, the coastguard were not authorised to open fire".

Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia have steadily deteriorated.

Saudi naval forces fired warning shots at the boats, which were carrying "red and white flags", and captured one of the vessels but two escaped, the statement added.

On Sunday Iran fired missiles into Syria, claiming it was hitting Islamic State targets in retaliation.

Earlier this month Saudi Arabia and several of its allies cut ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting extremist groups, including some backed by Iran.
