Twitter briefly suspends Al Jazeera's account

As the state-run broadcaster of Qatar, Al Jazeera is facing accusations of promoting terrorist "plots" from Saudi Arabia, which closed the broadcaster's office this month, along with Jordan.

"The siege we have today is a force majeure and we could close the gas pipeline to the UAE", he said.

On June 5, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt broke diplomatic relations with Qatar and implemented a series of economic reprisals after claiming that Doha funded terrorist groups. Jordan and Djibouti reduced the level of their diplomatic missions in Qatar.

"I want to clearly say that we disapprove of the sanctions on Qatar".

Qatar has denied supporting the groups.

If the motive of IMA is to isolate Iran and take action against Qatar, in that case, Pakistan must adopt a bold stand by withdrawing from that alliance, which is becoming a source of embarrassment and rift in the Arab-Muslim World.

The Qatar-based Al Jazeera news channel said Saturday it had regained its Arab-language account on Twitter after a brief suspension.

The recent United States arms deal with Qatar follows another huge agreement Washington has signed with Saudi Arabia.

In 1996, Qatar launched the Al-Jazeera satellite news channel and brought a new brand of news coverage to the region.

The rebuttal came after Bahrain's official TV broadcast a 2011 phone conversation between an adviser to the Qatari emir and a leader of the now-dissolved main Shia opposition group Al-Wefaq in Bahrain, citing it as an example of Doha's interference.

The crisis has put Turkey in a delicate position as Ankara regards Qatar as its chief ally in the Gulf but is also keen to maintain its improving relations with the key regional power Saudi Arabia.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised eyebrows over the weekend when he said King Salman agreed to consider an offer to establish a Turkish military base in the kingdom alongside a Turkish base in Qatar.

This time, the Saudis have closed Qatar's only land border, through which around 40 percent of its imports enter the country, and Gulf states have stopped air and sea shipments to Qatar.

Analysts say the steps Saudi Arabia has led in taking against Qatar are actually about showing who is boss in the Arabian Peninsula and that there will be no deviation from Saudi hegemony.
