Microsoft sales reorg created to add cloud services depth

Microsoft to fire thousands of staff – Report

Microsoft Corp.is about to announce an internal reorganization meant to boost sales of cloud services that could see it lay off a number of staff as early as Monday, according to one report.

The restructuring will merge its enterprise customer unit and one or more of its divisions and is expected to be announced in the coming week, according to an anonymous source cited by TechCrunch.

The reports are in line with Microsoft's announcement last August, when it revealed plans to cull 2,850 global sales staff.

Saints' Fairley ruled out for 2017 because of heart symptoms
He was drafted by the Lions in 2011 His best year with the team was 2013 were Fairley tailed six sacks and thirty four tackles. New Orleans' top remaining interior defensive linemen include Sheldon Rankins , Tyeler Davison and David Onyemata .

A reorganisation of the tech giant's sales force and an increased focus on cloud software sales will lead to thousands of job losses. Microsoft is reportedly cutting thousands of jobs as part of the reorganization, although there isn't a single mention of the layoffs in the internal memo. Microsoft is making headway into the cloud services sector now dominated by Amazon Web Services and wants to further its cause with the proposed adjustment of its sales force which has typically focused on selling licensed software for PCs and servers.

"This news surrounding Microsoft's major reorganization of its sales team, to expand its cloud based offering should come as no surprise". Bloomberg writes that "the shifts will be some of the most significant in the sales force in years and will also impact local marketing efforts in various countries". "From large multinationals to small and medium businesses to non-profits all over the world, organizations are using Microsoft's cloud platforms to power their digital transformation", Chief Executive Satya Nadella had earlier said. In this day and age, however, it has become paramount to get customers on board with cloud services Microsoft hosts in its data centers. Partly due to the weak growth in the Personal Computing market, and partly due to the rise of cloud-enabled solutions, traditional buy-it-once software services are falling by the wayside.

This is not the first time that news of Microsoft layoffs hit the surface. "By staying up to date on both the latest feature and quality updates, you're assured of being on the most secure version of Windows 10".
