US Ready to Discuss Syrian No-Fly Zones With Russia, Tillerson Says

Donald Trump Jr. left with Sean Hannity on Tuesday

The US State Department has outlined its vision for resolving the conflict in Syria, which is expected to be a key point to be discussed during the first meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump at the G20 summit in Hamburg.

Tillerson's assurances to Guterres signaled the Trump administration's increasing willingness to let Russian Federation take the driver's seat in Syria, throwing geopolitics to the wayside to focus on defeating ISIS.

But it did not specify who carried out the attack that killed at least 87 people, including many children, and shocked the world.

Reports from inside the new round of Syria peace talks in Astana said on Tuesday that the participants agreed on the specification of two of four de-escalation zones in the war-hit country.

Mr Tillerson said the United States is also open to jointly setting up a truce monitoring and humanitarian aid delivery mechanism.

"Russia also has an obligation to prevent any further use of chemical weapons of any kind" by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, he added.

A "special responsibility" to help stabilize Syria fell on Russian Federation, said Tillerson, referring to Moscow's military backing for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Gasoline Prices Hit a Pre-July 4th Dip
OPEC members in May agreed to extend those production caps another nine months, but disappointed investors who wanted deeper cuts. Consumers may be enjoying historically low gas prices, but that may soon change, analyst Dan McTeague told CNBC on Monday.

Meanwhile, Russia and the United States, major world powers active in the Syrian war and offering their support to Damascus and rebel groups respectively, could have their scope of cooperation widened and strengthened.

Besides Lavrentyev, the Astana talks were attended by Syrian envoy Bashar al-Jaafari, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hoessein Jaberi Ansari, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal, and the acting US assistant secretary of state for the Near East Affairs Bureau, Stuart Jones.

"I think the important aspect of this is that this is where we've begun an effort to begin to rebuild confidence between ourselves and Russian Federation at the military-to-military level but also at the diplomatic level".

The lawmaker added that Tillerson's position is substantive for a discussion and just like the previous year "we are ready to discuss it with him and other U.S. negotiators in order to approach the creation of an effective anti-terrorist coalition in which we clearly see the United States".

"Russia is neither capable nor willing to give us what we want in Syria", Lister said.

During his daily call with reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on Tillerson's remarks.
