Venus Williams facing wrongful death lawsuit following fatal auto crash

The Barson family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Williams.

She confirmed the incident, posting a heartfelt message to Facebook saying, "I am devasted [sic] and heartbroken by this accident. I'm completely speechless. It's just".

When cameras returned to Venus at the press conference, she was sobbing. While being being questioned about her 7-6 (7), 6-4 win over Elise Mertens, the 10th-seeded Williams was also asked about how she's dealing with the aftermath of the fatal crash. Barson told investigators she was approaching the intersection when her light turned green and that she was unable to stop in time.

Williams has not been cited or charged, but the accident remains under investigation.

She initially responded and said: "There are really no words to describe, like, how devastating".

We may be just two days away from the start of the biggest tournament in the sport in Wimbledon but Venus Williams has been under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons recently because of a auto crash involving her in Florida.

Barson told police that she couldn't avoid the crash. The Times reports that neither driver was suspected of driving under the influence or distracted by electronics when the accident occurred.

As Centre Rehearses GST Rollout, J&K to Take Final Call Today
GST was rolled-out on Friday midnight by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee at the Central Hall of the Parliament.

The report says a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by Barson's wife, Linda, crashed into the side of Williams' SUV.

"[Venus] is at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver]", reads the report.

The crash resulted in Barson's head injury while his wife suffered broken bones and other injuries.

At such a traumatic time, the seven-time Grand Slam victor admitted she would have loved to be able to spend more time with her sister Serena.

Venus Williams was sued on Friday by the family of a Florida man who died after being involved in a two-vehicle crash that police say was the fault of the world's former top-ranked tennis player.

When she was asked how she was coping mentally, Williams added: "I have no idea what tomorrow will bring".
