Atlas Rises update attempts to make No Man's Sky a thing again

No Man's Sky Atlas Rises update COUNTDOWN: Hello Games launching new patch soon

Hello Games have detailed the big Atlas Rising update coming to No Man's Sky this week and it brings with it the addition of multiplayer... kind of.

According to the Atlas Rise update page, players will appear in your game "visualized by odd floating orbs", and "up to 16 players can see and communicate with one another, and explore the universe together".

If you are so inclined, however, you can explore nearby regions with these orbs and communicate with each other while you do so. It's perhaps still not as robust as players might be expecting, but a first step towards reaching one of the game's most requested features. Instead, it was a attractive universe with potential for a fun game to take place in it, released far too early with far too many unrealistic expectations.

While No Man's Sky was a disappointment at launch but, it is good to see that Hello Games is supporting the game and are including the features that were originally promised.

The Atlas Rises update is out today and available for free.

Atlas Rises will also provide 30 hours of new story content.

Interestingly, Hello Games had this to add: "While interaction with others is now very limited, this is an important first step into the world of synchronous co-op in No Man's Sky".
