North Korea factories humming with 'Made in China' clothes, traders say

Unfortunately, despite China's attempts to soothe the two leaders and keep the peace, all while placating the United States on the sanctions deal, Trump still has plenty of ire with Xi Jinping.

The US has accused China, which is North Korea's main economic lifeline, of not doing enough to rein in its neighbor.

An administration official contended that the possible investigation was unrelated to the showdown with North Korea.

Trump, in the midst of a 17-day vacation, left his New Jersey golf club to return to the White House to sign an executive action on the probe.

China's Commerce Ministry issued a ban, effective from Tuesday, on several imports from North Korea, including coal, iron ore, lead concentrates and ore, lead and seafood, a move that is in line with United Nations sanctions announced this month.

Iron ore cargoes from North Korea usually sell for about 100 yuan a tonne less than those from top suppliers, Australia and Brazil, a third China-based trader who handles iron ore but is not involved in North Korean business said.

Beijing fired a pre-emptive strike on Monday, warning "everybody will lose" in the event of a trade war between the world's two largest economies.

While Beijing has promised to open more industries to foreign companies, it also has issued new rules on electric vehicle manufacturing, data security, internet censorship and other fields.

British model drugged, stuffed in bag and 'auctioned as sex slave'
It is understood the police investigation involved reconstructing the kidnapping scene and studying CCTV footage from the area. Police in Italy have arrested a man who kidnapped a British model and allegedly tried to auction her off on the deep web.

"I think China can do a lot more (about North Korea)".

The clothes made in North Korea are labelled "Made in China" and exported across the world, they said.

The Chinese announcement comes days after an increasingly aggressive rhetoric between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Chinese exports to North Korea rose nearly 30 per cent to $1.67 billion in the first half of the year, largely driven by textile materials and other traditional labour-intensive goods not included on the United Nations embargo list, Chinese customs spokesman Huang Songping told reporters.

The ministry said on its website that all imports of coal, iron, iron ore and seafood will be "completely prohibited" from Tuesday.

American threats to get tough on trade with China won't help solve the crisis over North Korea.

China, meanwhile, has appointed a new special envoy for the North Korean issue.

Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, a popular trade tool in the 1980s that has been rarely used in the past decade, allows the president to unilaterally impose tariffs or other trade restrictions to protect US industries from "unfair trade practices" of foreign countries.
