Trump Needs an Attorney General in His Corner

Jeff Sessions speaks in Ohio

"I applaud President Trump and Attorney General Sessions for their commitment to this critical issue and will continue working with them to further address this crisis".

The White House's new chief of staff has called Attorney General Jeff Sessions to assure him that his job is safe, marking a shift in tone after weeks of criticism from President Trump and ex-communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

The Associated Press was first to report that Kelly gave assurances to Sessions, citing unnamed sources familiar with the conversation.

Sessions has become a frequent target of the president for recusing himself from the investigation into Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russian Federation. The president viewed that decision as disloyal - the most grievous sin in Trump's orbit.

Gen. Inch has served as a military policeman for almost a quarter of a century and most recently was the head of Army Corrections, which Sessions says makes him "uniquely qualified" to oversee the division that handles all inmates accused of violating or have violated federal law.

Foxconn US investment could reach $30B
It did not address Trump's statement about the total investment amount or Trump's claims that Gou told it to him in confidence. Other states that Foxconn said it was looking at were Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Representatives from the police departments did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Trump is appearing with Republican Sens. They suggested that Sessions has been the most effective member of Trump's Cabinet delivering on campaign promises, while some White House aides feared that firing Sessions could spark a significant political backlash.

Trump also believes Sessions should be probing the alleged crimes of his 2016 presidential opponent Hillary Clinton.

Republican Senators have rallied to Sessions' defense.

Kelly, who was named chief of staff by Trump on Friday, phoned Sessions on Saturday to reassure him the White House wanted him to remain as head of the Justice Department, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
