U.S. action against Kaspersky Lab is unfair competition

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security cited concerns about possible ties between unnamed Kaspersky officials and the Kremlin and Russian intelligence services. Today, most of its business comes from outside Russian Federation, and the company boasts 400 million users and 270,000 corporate clients worldwide.

The statement of the company, which was received by RBC, says that the organization has no political ties with any state in the world, has never helped and will not help any government in cyber espionage attempts. In July, Smith requested documents on Kaspersky from almost two-dozen government agencies, expressing concern that the firm's products could be used in "nefarious activities against the United States".

It continued: "The risk that the Russian government, whether acting on its own or in collaboration with Kaspersky, could capitalize on access provided by Kaspersky products to compromise federal information and information systems directly implicates US national security".

Kasperksy Lab has rejected allegations from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that it has ties to the Russian Government and poses a threat to national security, and expressed disappointment with the decision to ban the use of its software on US Government systems.

The U.S. government accounts for a negligible proportion of Kaspersky's revenues, according to the report, but the U.S. consumer market accounts for about a quarter of the total.

Hillary Stands By Her 'Deplorables' Remark
What's more , she "doesn't buy" into the idea that she offended people who weren't already opposed to her candidacy. Sanders repeatedly attacked her as a representative of the political establishment, a message Trump echoed.

It continued: "No credible evidence has been presented publicly by anyone or any organisation as the accusations are based on false allegations and inaccurate assumptions, including the claims about Russian regulations and policies impacting the company". "We don't have any secrets, we don't do anything bad against our customers and against governments".

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov slammed the U.S. authorities' decision on Kaspersky Lab as politically motivated. Last week, Best Buy Co, the No.1 USA electronics retailer, said it was pulling Kaspersky Lab's cyber security products from its shelves and website. The Defense Department does not use Kaspersky products anyway, as officials explained. The retail giant Best Buy has said it would stop selling the company's software.

The company has suggested both Russian Federation and the United States are trying to use it as a pawn in a geopolitical game.

Company spokesman Anton Shingarov said Thursday in Moscow that the USA ban was "part of a geopolitical game" and "there is no proof provided of any improper ties to the Russian government". It said the department also is concerned about Russian laws that would permit Russian spy agencies to compel Kaspersky to provide assistance or intercept communications transiting Russian networks. "This wasn't an easy action for the USA government to take, and it will also have significant ramifications for corporations that use Kaspersky", explained Hamerstone, who is the Practice Lead for the Governance, Risk, and Compliance division at security consultant TrustedSec.
