He added: "For me, it's just about doing the best I can to help this team and show unity about what we're trying to accomplish in this country". "Make no mistake about that", Jones told reporters. "The players were truly under pressure to kneel at the flag".

The Cowboys' gesture took place after a Sunday of protests throughout the NFL.

"Our players wanted to make a statement about unity and we wanted to make a statement about equality", Jones said after his team's 28-17 win over the Cardinals.

Cowboys WR Brice Butler on Tuesday defended Jones and debunked the notion that Jones had banned players from protesting the national anthem.

I don't want to attempt to get into all of the ins and outs of the "should they kneel or should they stand" debate.

"The most important thing for the National Football League, the most important thing for everybody involved, is to leave the impression and the fact that you've not dishonored the flag. But we were real pleased with how our team fought and kept battling".

China experts say 3.4-quake hits North Korea in 'suspected explosion'
Since Kim came to power after the death of his father Kim Jong Il in 2011, he has ramped up nuclear and missile weapon tests. ET Saturday 22 kilometers ( more than 13 miles) east-northeast of Sungjibaegam, North Korea, the US Geological Survey said.

Jones is a former star player for the Dallas Cowboys, and he says he's proud to see so many teams rallying together. Ultimately, Jones, who supported Trump during his presidential campaign with a $1 million donation, declined to address Trump's criticism of the protests.

What have the owners said? "He was complimentary, which doesn't mean that in any way we acquiesce d to what he was implying". According to Dallas Morning News senior sports reporter Jean-Jacques Taylor, two sources told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth the president was so anxious to discuss the National Football League protests that he contacted the Dallas Cowboys owner four times in one day.

The protest has its origin in the actions of players like Colin Kaepernick, former quarter back with the San Francisco 49ers (and now without a team), who first refused to stand for the anthem 13 months ago in protest against perceived police brutality against, and the oppression of, black people in the US.

When pressed, however, McCain said only that he respected the Cowboys' free speech rights.

"We're going to stand, we're going to stand and going to put our hand over our heart and we're going to do what we did before", Bryant said.
